  Carmakers rush to occupy premium EV space in India Kia EV6 has been built on dedicated EV platform.  Electrical vehicle (EV) manufacturers are looking to rapidly increase their share in the below  ₹ 1-crore premium passenger car segment with the launch of new models. Ma ruti Suzuki, the Indo-Japanese automaker, plans to foray into the electric vehicle space in 2025. Speaking to an online media publication, Hisahi Takeuchi, Maruti Suzuki CEO, said that it’s difficult to price the company’s first EV model under Rs 10 lakh due to high cost of EV technology and battery. He believes that their prices won’t “come down enough in the next three years”. Bringing in an affordable EV (under Rs 10 lakh) will only be possible with the small capacity battery that offers short range (around 150km). Takeuchi further said that EVs with smaller batteries will require a wide network of fast charging stations, which is possibly a bigger challenge.
